Give My All: The Power of Praising in Every Season
Some of the words that Jesus spoke in the book of Luke are commonly referred to as “The Great Commandment.” Luke 10:27 says, “The man answered, “‘You must love the LORD your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your strength, and all your mind.'” When I read those words, I’m challenged to love God with EVERYTHING I have! My body, my thoughts, my emotions, my soul, my spirit – EVERYTHING!
This can be easy to do when life is going great, or when we feel like God has answered our prayers just like we wanted, but what about when life isn’t going perfectly? What if we feel like God is not listening to us? Whether you’re in a great place, or a not-so-great place today, all of us know what it is to go through difficulty. Learning to live out this verse in the midst of difficulty can be, well, difficult!
A great way to live this out is through praising God. Praising God involves jumping, dancing, shouting, clapping, and singing. This is the way the people of the Bible praised Him. To praise like this, it involves my whole body, my thoughts, my emotions, all of it!
Isaiah 61:3 (NKJV) says that God gives us the “garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness.” I don’t know about you, but in times when I’m feeling heavy, the last thing I feel like doing is putting on praise! Jumping, shouting, clapping, singing – these responses are the last on my list of desires when I’m feeling heavy.
However, I believe that’s exactly why God gives us this key to praise, even when we’re feeling heavy. It’s very difficult to think about or focus on anything else but God when we’re praising Him. As we begin to praise, and put our focus and attention on Him, we begin to see how big God is compared to the difficulty we’re facing.
Here at Planetshakers, we want to STIR PEOPLE UP in their praise. We will always write praise songs, because we’ve seen the power of praise, and we know that when we praise, we enter His Presence.
Now you know the heart behind the pre-chorus of Give My All which says:
I bring my energy and passion
You’re worthy of nothing less
Your love is stirring me to action
So I’m going to give my best
No matter what we’re feeling, He is worthy of our praise. That’s why we go on to sing:
I give my all to You
‘Cause You are worth it, Lord You deserve it
I give my all to You
All of my passion, my heart’s reaction
You have it all
So today I encourage you, no matter what you are facing, lift up a passionate praise to God, because despite your circumstances, He is always worthy of our best praise!
