6 Prayers for Engaged Couples

DAY 3 OF 6

Fun

I cannot even begin to tell you how many couples that I have counseled have given me a “deer in the headlights” look when I ask what they do for fun. If I change the question and ask them what they did for fun together before marriage, I get all kinds of good, fun answers.

God created us to laugh and to be happy and joyful. There is no one that I have more fun with than Nancy. We laugh. We do fun things. We are adventurous together. You are probably doing pretty well at this now. Most couples have a lot of fun leading up to the wedding day. Just do not let having fun together stop being a priority for the two of you. Having fun together connects you and creates experiences that the two of you experience together.

God’s word is clear throughout the Proverbs that joy is a good and valuable part of life. It is one of the fruit of His Spirit! So as we pursue fun and enjoyment together, we can invite God in and ask for His help to love and enjoy one another well. When we experience joy in our marriage, our marriage further glorifies Him as it reflects and shines forth the light of His love into the world.

Prayer:

Father, allow us to always connect and have fun together. Guide us in our connection with one another and help us to always make fun a part of our daily lives. Help us to enjoy each other and the many blessings You have given us. We pray that we will be filled with Your spirit, living in the love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control that are evident when You are present. Amen!
