Resurrection Faith: Hebrews 11:35 Women

DAY 1 OF 3

Women received back their dead by resurrection; and others were tortured [to death], refusing to accept release [offered on the condition of denying their faith], so that they would be resurrected to a better life. Hebrews 11:35 (AMP)

What can we learn from the Hebrews 11:35 women’s experiences? Today, we will examine the experience of the widow who lost her only son.

Now as He approached the city gate, a dead man was being carried out–the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the city was with her [in the funeral procession]. When the Lord saw her, He felt [great] compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.” And He came up and touched the bier [on which the body rested], and the pallbearers stood still. And He said, “Young man, I say to you, arise [from death]!” The man who was dead sat up and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother. Luke 7:12-15 (AMP)

Here we see the compassion of Jesus at work. Do you have faith in the compassion of Jesus? The compassion of Jesus is the primary reason we receive forgiveness and answers to our prayers (Hebrews 4:15-16). Have faith and rest in the compassion of Jesus. Be fully assured that God wants the best for you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Is your child spiritually or emotionally dead? Lean on the compassion of Jesus, the great high priest, to resurrect your child. God wants to restore your child’s mind. God wants to restore your child back to the faith, the way of life. God loves our children more than we love them. We must lean on God’s compassion to sustain them. We ought to live conscious of God’s compassion in good and challenging times.

Psalm 145:8 (AMP)The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, Slow to anger and abounding in lovingkindness. Psalm 145:8 (AMP)

What could have provoked the unusual compassion the widow experienced? After all, Jesus did not raise every dead child in the city. In several instances, the Bible makes it known that God’s compassion is great towards those who fear him and God extends compassion to anyone He wants (Exodus 33:19; Luke 1:50; Psalm 103:13; Romans 9:15). Do you fear God? Do you regard God’s Word as the final authority in your life? When we fear and obey God’s Word, we demonstrate faith in God’s compassion as well. Regard for God’s ways shows we believe He has our best interest in mind, and all His commandments are designed to help us, not harm us.
