DAY 5 OF 5

"You Cover Me"

Some days the spiritual warfare that is constantly raging all around us feels so much more palpable. Like there is an enemy and you can just sense that he has singled you out as his target for the day. Some days it seems like the world is falling apart and we have more questions than answers. Some days it’s hard to not think about throwing in the towel and giving up. Every one of us has days like this.

The truth is there is an enemy who wants to steal, kill, and destroy. To add to that, we live in a desperately broken world that is marred by sin and groaning for Jesus to return and make all things right and all things new. And to keep piling on the bad news, we are housed in this body of flesh that does not want to submit to the rule and reign of a sovereign, good, loving, and kind God. It is a wonder of grace that we have any good days at all!

And yet, in the midst of even the darkest days and wildest squalls, God remains our rock, our refuge and strength – an ever-present help in trouble. We have no reason to fear, because even in the middle of the valley of the shadow of death, he is with us. Even when the wind and waves are crashing on all sides, someone greater than the storm is in the boat with us.

We have no need to be anxious – we can rest in the shadow of his wings. We have no need to be afraid – he is our strength and bravery. We have no need to be worried by the enemy’s attacks – we are safe inside the presence of the one who holds back our enemy. This is the God who covers us. This is the God whom we worship.

About this Plan

Prestonwood Worship - Songs Of The People

The Psalms are full of rich truth and deep emotion. The writers didn’t ignore the world around them or try to pretend their problems weren’t real. Instead, they drew from the truth they knew about God (his words, his ways, his character) to shape their worship and worldview. We have the privilege and joy of drawing from this well of truth to encourage our own souls today.
