Be Anxious for Nothing

DAY 3 OF 3

“Traumas, Triggers, and Triumph”
By Bishop T.D. Jakes

Every time God created something, He said, “It is good.” From every mountaintop to every star, He admired and loved His creation, calling it “good.” If our awesome God, who orchestrates the symphony of the heavens above, can congratulate and validate Himself, then we can do the same.

I empathize with those who feel like trauma is their only setting. In such a time as this, we all have had moments where we feel like the slightest amount of hope is akin to a fleeting, shooting star — like a child’s wish. But I’m here to tell you that hope is not fleeting; hope is here.

Encourage yourself when the darkness closes in because that is when the enemy loves to strike. When we encourage, validate, and congratulate ourselves for our triumphs, we beat back the enemy’s plans and enter a new horizon.

Now, when I say “congratulate ourselves,” I’m not talking about arrogance. I mean during those moments when you feel so in the dark that any move feels less like a step and more like a mountain … even then you are willing to take baby steps toward healing, then congratulations are in order. Baby steps can mean taking a little walk outside to ease depression, entrusting something small to someone to free that anxiety, or finding one small thing you’re grateful for when you’re in suicide’s grip.

If you begin to congratulate yourself and celebrate just how far you’ve come, imagine how far you’ll go.
