Esther, Born for Such a Time as ThisSample
Esther didn't disclose her Jewish heritage, Mordecai had ordered her not to! Esther listened to him and kept silent about this area of her life. During the time that Esther was being prepared to go see the king (which took a year!), there surely must have been questions about her background, her family, and her upbringing. Yet, Esther remained quiet. Wouldn’t that have been very difficult? Maybe it would have been for you or me, but Esther held Mordecai in high esteem. She took his instruction to heart and obeyed his advice; his command was very serious and she kept her mouth shut. She listened without question, without argument. Scripture simply says she did what he said. She trusted Mordecai.
Every day, Mordecai would take a walk near the courtyard of the harem. Every day! I mentioned earlier that Esther had to wait one year before she could go to the king. That means that Mordecai got as close as he could to the court of the harem every day for an entire year. He was a devoted, faithful person; even when he couldn’t physically care for Esther, he wanted to know how she was doing. He stayed as involved as he could, and wanted to know what was going to happen to her.
Mordecai and Esther had a beautiful relationship. A bond which bore the following characteristics: devotion, high esteem (a great amount of respect), faithfulness, close involvement, trust. What an example! And you know what? God wants such a relationship with you! God is there for you. Every day, every hour of the year. He is faithful and committed, always and forever. We can learn, like Esther, to simply trust Him.
Prayer: Lord, I want a relationship with You that is marked by devotion, faithfulness, and trust. I know that a lack of these characteristics doesn’t come from You, because You are present for me every day. Lord, help me to be faithful and committed in my relationship with You, so my trust may be increased. Amen.

About this Plan
In this plan, we will take you through the book of Esther. We can admire Esther's courage, but we should see the whole picture: Esther, too, needed to be reminded of Who rules and that her life is in His hand. We pray that Esther's story inspires you to see God's hand in your life. God has intentionally placed you where you are for such a time as this.
