Identity in ChristSample
How should I be viewed by others?
Take a moment to think about this question. Does your identity reflect the light of Jesus to others? Maybe you are confident about your identity, but remember, some people look up to you. You are either showing the light of Jesus to others or not. It is one or the other. Ask yourself, “How do I want other people to see me?” If we realize our identity is not reflecting Christ to others, what can we do? We can change the way we live to honor God with our identity so others can see Him through us. I love what Jesus says about us in Matthew chapter 5. He says that we are the “salt of the earth and the light of the world.”
“You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its taste, it cannot be made salty again. Salt is useless if it loses its salty taste. It will be thrown out where people just walk on it. You are the light that shines for the world to see. You are like a city built on a hill that cannot be hidden. People don’t hide a lamp under a bowl. They put it on a lampstand. Then the light shines for everyone in the house. In the same way, you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in Heaven.” - Matthew 5:14-16.
Challenge:
Take time to check your heart and pray. Ask the Holy Spirit, “Do my identity and my actions reflect the light of Jesus to others?’’
