Can the Resurrection Change My Life?Sample
For three days, darkness had prevailed. Mary Magdalene and the other women watched as Jesus was placed into a hewn-out sepulcher. It seemed as though death triumphed. All their hopes and dreams – buried in the tomb with the body of their Master. Thoughts of fear plagued them. They were known as Jesus’ followers; would they suffer the same fate as Jesus?
But all of that changed in an instant. Matthew chapter twenty-eight tells us that as the sun began to slowly light up the Jerusalem sky, there was a great earthquake. An angel descended from Heaven and rolled the stone away. His words that morning still echo today – “He is not here, for He is risen as He said!”
What does the resurrection of Jesus mean for us? First, it means we have been begotten again to a lively hope! Our life today is a reborn life. It is a new life. Those who have received Him can now truly enjoy life as God designed and intended it. The resurrection is life-changing!
Now we have lives filled with a living hope. If that does not change what we think and do and how we go about life, nothing will. But, now that we have a living hope, we can serve the Lord in a way that we never could before.
How would it change your life if you received a notice that a wealthy relative had given you a million dollars? That would be amazing, but that kind of inheritance will fade away. It will get spent up or maybe even stolen. However, the resurrection gives us an inheritance reserved in Heaven that will never fade away.
How can that change my life? Think of all the time, effort, and money people put into planning for retirement, only to get there and find out it is not all that it seems to be. But, because of the resurrection and your faith in Christ, you have an inheritance that will not fade, rust, or mold. When you grasp this fact, it is life-changing!
Christian, are you longing for Heaven? We live in a crazy world, but we no longer have to work our whole lives for things that fade. We have a promised home awaiting us. Let us live not for this life but for the life that is yet to come.
About this Plan
