How to Fight Fair and Fearless in Your Marriage by Treal RavenelSample
Find your tribe (community)!
One of the other lies that Satan wants you to believe is that you are in this by yourself. He wants you to think that no one cares about you, your marriage, or your family. He wants you to question what you did wrong. He wants you to believe that it’s your fault, and if only you did (you fill in the blank), your marriage would not be taking this hit. He wants you to question everything about you and believe nothing worthwhile will uplift and encourage you during this time.
By this time, you know that God is with you and that alone is enough for many people, but can I also tell you that others are there with you and for you as well?
While you may not have direct access to them or be able to call on them at the drop of a hat every time they are there, don't ever believe that you are alone. We see patterns in scriptures of support and accountability and where help and reinforcements by way of people were available when the burden was too much to bear.
Here are a few scriptures that prove the point.
Aaron helped Moses deliver God’s message to Pharaoh (Exodus 6:28 -7).
Aaron and Hur helped Moses defeat the Amalekites.
In Esther chapter 4:15-17, Esther asked for Mordecai’s help in gathering people as she prepared for a corporate fast.
What you’re experiencing is unimaginable. Don’t think for a moment that you will handle it all on your own. These examples are a few of many more throughout scripture where our fellow brothers and sisters had to depend on one another. While they were in different kinds of struggles, they were all facing something they could not overcome by themselves.
Don’t fall victim to being and doing this alone. Prolonged isolation and feelings of loneliness can lead to depression and suicide ideation.
Make it your priority today to find your tribe and share with them how they can help you in the fight or, better yet, welcome the help many of them may have already offered.
Devotional Reflection: Community is essential. We see throughout scripture where the community is prevalent and relevant for victorious living. This week, find your tribe:
- A Facebook group
- Organization
- An affiliation within your local church
- Some ladies within your local community
You are not alone in this and don’t you forget it!
