Turning Sorrow Into JoySample
Understanding pain
Have you ever sought to understand why you are experiencing a moment of suffering in life? Often God allows us to go through situations aiming to show us something. Paul speaks at 2 Corinthians 7: 10, “Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret, but worldly sorrow brings death.”
Paul describes two categories of sorrow. The first is the sorrow allowed by God for our transformation; changing what we know displeases God, and that goes against his Word. Today, this sorrow is a cause for regret, but it will be a source of inexhaustible joy later on. Because moving into the right path will lead you to what the Lord has prepared for you: a beautiful life and salvation in the near future. The world causes the second sorrow that Paul describes - the sadness that comes to accuse you, taking away your peace and bringing remorse. This sorrow leads to death because it does not come from God but from the world.
Prayer: Father, thank you because I know you hear me. Jesus, please show us through the Holy Spirit what we must change in our lives. Thank you for caring and correcting me, just like a father disciplines his beloved ones. May I trust you in this process of change so I can experience all that is fair and pleasing to your eyes in the name of Jesus. Amen!
