Inspired To Define Success in a Healthy Way
If you show people Kingdom principles that work, they will be drawn to meet the King.
When considering the word “success,” there are many words or images that come to mind. How many align with Kingdom success as defined by God in His Word? The world gauges success by things on the outside, but God views success by what He finds within. God looks at your heart, attitudes, motivations, and how you treat and love people — and how you love God. Kelly Clark looked for success from an internal motivation.
In her book, Kelly shared Kingdom-concepts about life and fulfillment. As she said in the interview, “... if you show people the Kingdom, they’re going to want to meet the King.” Jesus said that He came to give abundant life (John 10:10). God’s Kingdom brings peace, grace, abundance, joy, contentment, and forgiveness.
How can you be successful in God’s eyes? Forgive freely, love the unlovely, show grace, and display joy. And walk in the undeserved grace you have given to you through Jesus Christ.
Application Questions:
- What type of success have you been pursuing? External worldly success or internal Kingdom success?
- How can you show people the Kingdom in your life today?
Conclusion
In the middle of Proverbs 22, there is a powerful verse. It is almost as if Solomon called a timeout to remind the reader why he gives these life lessons. It says, “I am teaching you today — yes, you — so you will trust in the Lord” (NLT). That is it. God uses life lessons to build our trust. Our prayer is that these six days spent learning about Kelly Clark’s story has been a reminder to do that — to increase your trust in Him.
