How to maintain a solid marriageSample
Love at all times
We do not depend on a holiday to do what should be part of our life.
We had to be inside our homes during the pandemic, living together was pretty tough for some couples; some could not stand it, so divorce rates increased. This is contrary to what is expressed when the marriage vows are made: “Till death do us part.” Marriage implies that we spend time together; at least this is what we should expect in every couple’s life.
What should have been a time to strengthen marital bonds turned into the opposite due to various causes, such as stress produced by social distancing, health problems, a tough economy, job loss, children and schooling online, etc. All this pressure caused other situations to surface that did not previously manifest t in daily life. Therefore, there were couples who could not withstand the storm; they did not have solid marriages.
Circumstances such as alcoholism, drug addiction, violence, and domestic abuse appeared to increase the separation rate in families. We hear all kinds of conflicts—the results of not doing the right thing in the time we have to live. To love is not a simple verb to conjugate; it means so much more. In the first letter to the Corinthians, chapter thirteen, Paul expresses it exceptionally: "Love never ceases to be."
As children of God, we must remember that a true child demonstrates by his or her actions the nature of the Father. Every day is a feast day to rejoice in his love for each of his children and in our position in Christ. Let us strengthen our relationships to be prepared, at all times, to be an expression of the Lord. Our intimacy with God will bring us closer to the contentment and stability of being one flesh. Together, we walk with purpose and set an example for others.
Let us pray
Lord God, may the truth become a reality in the life of each of us, so that as partners we may be transformed and respond to every situation with your love and wisdom. I am thankful for the person who shares the day-to-day with me. Christ grows in me to live for you. Help us increase in the knowledge of the Word. Thank you, my Father, for your love.
