Married Couples: 16-Day Prayer ChallengeSample
"Love Is Not Easily Angered"
By Noemi Fine
“It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.”—1 Corinthians 13:5 (NIV, emphasis added)
“Be angry, and do not sin: do not let the sun go down on your wrath, nor give place to the devil.”—Ephesians 4:26–27 (NKJV)
“For the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God.”—James 1:20 (NKJV)
Lord, You are our Maker and our loving God. We seek Your wisdom, for we know that without You, we cannot love with a pure and giving heart. Thank You for who You are in our lives and for all the blessings that have been given to us from Your generous hand. Today, we thank you for our marriage, and we pray that as we walk through life’s challenges and unforeseen circumstances together, we’re reminded that You are our rock and redeemer. Let our tongues not hurt each other when You have given us a command to love. We ask that the example You have set before us moves us to give grace and be quick to create peace. Savior, let Your redeeming love encourage us to live in the present, not focus on the past and allow us to love more like You so we can see You in each other. Help us to love one another in a way that shows that our marriage is the most important earthly relationship we have. Lord, we know You will direct us on how to do our part in creating a sanctuary in our home and letting Your peace be the one that reigns forever in our hearts. In Jesus’ holy name, we pray. Amen.
