A Journey of Trust: American UnderdogSample
Dealing With Disappointments
There are often clear paths of how to achieve the things you desire. A nurse attends nursing school; a marathon runner has a strict training discipline; or you do a lot of research to plan a great vacation, but a failed test, an illness, or a financial setback can change those plans. Timelines vary, relationships fall apart, or a dream may fade away. What do we do when we face unexpected disappointment?
When disappointment happens, we can cry out to God and walk in faith, knowing that His plan is bigger than ours. The prophet Isaiah reminds us there will be times when our ways do not align with God’s ways. In these times, it is important to respond with faith. The Bible tells us when we go to God, He responds. That is a promise. Decide to turn to the Holy Spirit and allow Him to fill you with hope. Rely on God’s Word as your compass rather than your feelings. Then watch as God continues to write your story and see what kind of blessings and joys come!
Application Questions:
- What does it look like to allow the Holy Spirit to fill you with hope today?
- Remember a time where God turned an unexpected circumstance into a glorious joy.

About this Plan
The Bible contains many stories of people God uses in incredible ways. The path is often not easy. Life's low points are preparation for something much more significant. The story of NFL football great Kurt Warner has a similar theme. It is a modern-day story of someone who believed and trusted God amid shattered dreams. This plan ties Biblical concepts into useful, practical applications.
