Relationships According to the Book of Ruth Sample
DAY 4: Loyalty is Essential.
For any relationship to thrive and grow, there needs to be trusted. But trust is built through shared experiences and shared emotions. The relationship between Naomi and Ruth speaks of loyalty.
Ruth replies to Naomi with the following: “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God.” Ruth proclaims to Naomi that she will be at Naomi’s side for the rest of her life. She has experienced what Naomi experienced, and she is expressing her emotions towards Naomi. She is making it clear that she will be with Naomi.
Ruth was allowed to leave and find herself a man in the city where she was from. But her commitment to the relationship she had with Naomi was more important than anything else. Ruth chose to submit every aspect of life with Naomi, which meant that she also had to leave her Moabite gods.
The challenge I want to present you with is this, which relationships in your life are you the most loyal towards, and are those relationships pointing you towards God or not?
