Key Themes: Key Topical Themes Of The BibleSample
Faith
The people to whom Romans was written only had the Old Testament portion of the Bible to read. A person like Abraham was a hero to them. Paul points out that Abraham was a sinner like everyone else and God made him righteous because of his faith. It’s easy to lose sight of that fact when we quickly read through the Bible. Abraham was a good guy, at least when compared to the people around him. We want to look at ourselves and say we are pretty good when compared to others. But we are supposed to see ourselves as God sees us: sinners who need to turn to Christ in faith.
