Evangelism and Discipleship
The good news about Jesus has always been too good to not share with others. The transformational effect it has on every believer is too powerful to not be presented to those who receive Christ! The Gospel needs to spread to all people therefore Jesus gave this great commission to His followers.
Matthew 28:19-20 NLT Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. 'Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’
There is a call to action: GO! This implies the need to actively exert energy by sharing what Jesus taught being evangelism.
Then there is the instruction to make disciples of all nations.
Even though this instruction was given to the first followers of Jesus, it has an implication on every Christian to this day.
The meaning of ‘evangelism’ is the spreading of the Christian gospel by public preaching or personal witness or zealous advocacy or support of a particular cause.
There is a natural outflow that results from the life change effect the Gospel has on a believer. It should cause a Jesus follower to can’t help but share Jesus with those who don’t know Him. Whatever means possible could and should be used to testify of the change He has made to your life. There is not a bad time to do evangelism as Paul states:
2 Timothy 4:2 NLT Preach the word of God. Be prepared, whether the time is favorable or not. Patiently correct, rebuke, and encourage your people with good teaching.
The literal translation of ‘discipleship’ is: “To be a learner.”
When we become disciples of Christ, we are not only called to learn the teachings of Jesus Christ but we are also called to live them. The more we live the teachings of Christ, the more the Christ within us will grow. The more He grows within us, the more we will radiate Him, which will draw those to you whom He wants you to evangelize. We often grow the most when we teach other people.
Once a person has been evangelized and becomes a disciple of Christ, the journey has just begun. With the power of God on our side, we are capable of so much more than we could ever imagine!
Ask God to guide you in the way you tell others about Him. Live so close to His heart that it will become easy to share that with those around you. Also, be ready to be discipled by mature Christians so that you in return can do the same for young believers.

About this Plan
In the person of Jesus, God calls all people not to simply know about Him, but to follow Him with all that we are. Following Jesus daily is more like a habit than it is a moment. Habits are things we do often and regularly, without consciously thinking we have to do them. This 40-day plan will explore life-giving habits to establish us in the new life that Jesus gives.
