DAY 6 OF 7

Plummeting of Results

‘What goes around comes around’, ‘what goes up, comes down’ are age-old sayings and they are particularly descriptive of results. Corporate history is replete with examples of spikes and troughs, bull and bear market runs, and upswings and downslides of business results. How you respond to the pain of ‘down’ times, determines how quickly you bounce back and establish a positive gap.

After contributing to a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 13-14 percent YOY growth, we, as a business, were badly hit when the recession struck. As part of the India leadership team, I was collectively responsible for the bookings and personally responsible for the revenues. We missed both targets. Longstanding client loyalists threatened to take their business elsewhere. There were whispers of heads rolling. Deeply dejected, but relying on God, I charted out an aggressive pullback plan, mustered internal buy-in, presented it to the client CHRO and hedged the client from transitioning out, ensuring a steady pipeline of business.

Life will bring you your fair share of slides; your response to those downturns will determine if you stay on course or steer off-course. In the face of storms, be still; in the face of conflicts, be calm; in the face of discouragements, be determined; for the storms will subside, conflicts will cease and discouragements will desist in His time (Ex 14). Even as you traverse through the valley experiences, recognize His presence, read His leading, and render yourself unto Him.

Every pain has a reason; every tear will be wiped away, every death gives new birth, for it is in the pain that the pleasure is heightened, in the tears that the triumph is magnified, and in dying that you live forever. As you go through adversity, know that He is preparing you for something greater. For, challenges are a sure sign of His presence in your life. He does not protect you from trials; He inspires you through them for greater purposes (as He did the people of Israel under Egyptian bondage). As you face those plummeting situations in your life, be not intimidated but be invigorated for you are His!

Dear Lord, during downturns, let me experience a downpour of Your grace!

About this Plan

End Result

Relying merely on God to act in the absence of your initiative will not work. Human efforts plus divine intervention is the winning formula. When we prioritize Him, He prioritizes our tasks and gives grace from above to achieve and surpass our goals. This Bible Plan is about not letting the ‘here and now’ erode the ‘hereafter’. A great finish is better than a good start!
