DAY 3 OF 3

Do not call him “the beast”

Dr. James Dobson, a child development specialist, says that children are permanently damaged by people's attitudes towards their appearance. Even at the age of 3 or 4 years, a child can tell whether they are beautiful or ugly. One of Dr. Dobson’s patients is a

36-year-old man who told him, "I was only 5 years old when I realized that I was ugly, and I will never be the same again."

Sadly, many people treat children as if they were participants in a beauty pageant. They give warmth and praise to beautiful children and insult or ignore children who are fat, thin, or the like.

The result is self-doubt throughout their lives and feelings of worthlessness. Words like "beaver" or "ugly" can wreak havoc in their lives.

Instead of glorifying beauty, intelligence, or things accomplished by children, specialists encourage adults to teach children to emphasize virtues such as diligence, patience, and honesty.

"It's hard to fight the current societal values," said Dr. Dobson, “But at least teaching a child about spiritual values is a good place to start."

When you put faith, hope, and love together,

you can raise positive children in a negative world.

(Zig Ziglar)

Deuteronomy 12:28

"Observe and obey all these words which I command you, that it may go well with you and your children after you forever when you do what is good and right

in the sight of the Lord your God.”

Reflection:

Your every word has power. The power that can destroy or build a person's life. What kind of power of speech would you like to have? Be careful with what you say, because it can change someone's life for good or bad.

Day 2

About this Plan

Parenting

In the life of a family, children are a gift from God. Fathers and mothers have an important role to play in building children's spiritual lives and teaching them the values of life. This reflection will help parents to set an example and teach their children to fear the Lord.
