NEW BEGINNINGS
“But forget all that- it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway though the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NLT)
Dwelling on our past mistakes and failures is a common thing we all do at times. However, sometimes we dwell on it too much and the result ends up being a whole lot of negativities that we allow to take root in our hearts, minds, and spirit. God’s word in the book of Isaiah shows us that even though His people were facing exceedingly difficult circumstances while in captivity in Babylon, He was still encouraging them through Isaiah to keep their focus on the good works that God was going to do for them.
That He would bring them through everything that they were facing into the new future He already had planned for them. They just needed to not be afraid and trust that God would protect and provide for them while in captivity. Focusing on our past and staying stuck in a place where we are constantly reliving over and over in our minds everything wrong that has happened to us will keep us from experiencing all the new things God wants to do in our lives.
God will always make a way when it seems like there is no way out of whatever situation or circumstance you might find yourself in. Oftentimes we worry about how God is going to get us through our “place of captivity,” when what we should actually be doing is praising Him instead. Praising Him for all the new things that are about to take root in our lives and giving Him all the glory because every promise He has made to you He will fulfill.
Heart Questions:
How can you look at things differently to understand the newness God wants to bring into your life?
In what ways can you trust God to bring to pass all that He has promised you?
