Lingering at Jesus’ Feet 

COVID has removed all sorts of stuff. You’ve been given time back, in hours a week. Have you grown as a worshipper? Have you grown as a person lingering at Jesus’ feet, or have you put other things in His place? I was looking at the news twice every hour, or just scrolling through social media. I found I had to remove some apps from my phone. 

Much of our business is unnecessary and fleeting. A lot was canceled with COVID, but the world’s going on without all the parties we were going to have. But no pandemic is taking a thing away from God. He is still on his throne. We’ve seen how much can be taken away from us, but not one good thing from God has been taken from us. The gifts and calling of God are irrevocable. We can still pray, worship, hear His voice, walk with Him, and share Christ with others. Our activities have decreased, but what we have is necessary and secure.  

Mary realized her relationship with Jesus was the most important thing. Jesus said one thing is necessary. Mary made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her. 

Do you sit at the feet of Jesus? I’m not asking if you sing or raise your hands or are demonstrative. A lot of that’s just personality. What matters is your heart. When’s the last time you were on your knees before God? Have you lingered before Him? Have you gotten to a verse lately that’s just stopped you? Do you ever worship individually, spontaneously, just you and God?  

If you went, “No, no, no,” I want to just bring you to the feet of Jesus and allow you to see him face-to-face. He’s worth your worship. If you went, “Yes, yes, yes, I’m something,” I want to tell you, “No, you’re not. You never come with a heart of worship thinking “I'm something.” You always come to the heart of worship thinking, “He's everything.” 

 Lord, give me a heart like Mary’s, to worship you.
