Discover the God of More

DAY 9 OF 10

There is Always a Rescue Plan

The first books of the Bible reveal how the children of Israel complained even though they had been plucked out of slavery, were loaded down with Egypt’s riches, and brought safely through the Red Sea and away from Pharaoh’s army. But God didn’t bring them through all of that just to let them die in the wilderness or wander around the desert forever.

No, he brought them out to bring them in. He replaced their less with more. If that is true of them, then it is also true for us—those for whom Jesus shed His own blood to save. There is no way God is going to leave us without rescue. Just as with the children of Egypt, He will bring us through the dry, parched desert areas of our lives. He will bring us to the place of blessing and bounty.

Similarly, God didn’t set Paul on the journey to Rome just to have him die in Malta. He saw Paul through so he could fulfill his calling and destiny. Jesus didn’t take his disciples into the boat to have them drown in the middle of the sea. He saw them through safely to the other side.

The more of Jesus Christ is the grace to fulfill what you would otherwise be unable to complete on your own. That’s why testimonies are so important. Testimonies renew your perspective and encourage your faith because if He did it for someone else, He can do it for you.

When He looks at you, He doesn’t see your failures, shortcomings, and sins—He sees the precious blood His son shed to bring you into a relationship with Him. He sees the depth of the price that was paid for you. He sees grace covering you. He loves you and wants to move on your behalf. He wants to be more to you.

God will work out His plan in your life. He will be faithful to develop your character and endurance and to work through you to be an example to others. The God of More doesn’t keep us from the storms and challenges of life, but He does help us count it all joy when we go through trials and tribulations. He is with us in our toughest times, and He refuses to leave no matter what we may say. His grace is sufficient. He always operates on the principle of “more than enough.”
