Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and GuiltSample

Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and Guilt

DAY 9 OF 30

Judgments

You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.
Romans 2:1

Now, let’s be honest about making judgments about others. I’m guilty of it, and although I really try avoiding casting judgment upon others, I still catch myself doing it. When we do this, it’s similar to placing a curse in action. Except that according to God’s word, we reap what we sow, as well as we are judged by the same measure that we have judged.

There is spiritual authority in our words. Our tongue has the power of life and death, so if you sincerely want to gain freedom from your past, please weigh your words wisely. Especially regarding harsh judgments of other people. Speak truth to power and life-giving encouragement to others, and you shall receive blessings of like kind.

Call To Action

  1. Write out in detail condemning words of judgment that you commonly speak.
  2. Write out in detail three judgments against people in your past.
  3. Write out whether what you judged these people for have carried over to characteristics you now exhibit.
  4. Write out a prayer confessing your judgment, request for forgiveness, and your blessings for those you harmed.

About this Plan

Captive No More: Freedom From Pain, Shame and Guilt

“Suck it up.” Those words empowered and encouraged me as a boy. They injured me as a man. When we talk about pain, we first think of physical pain from injury or accident. There is a masculine, internal block on the notion of our emotions or feelings being hurt. How could they be, we’re men after all!
