Fervent: Fight Fear With Faith Sample

Today it’s been 40 days since we started this prayer devotional. Imagine that, 40 days of prayer; you would think it would have gotten easier with the days. Yet sometimes we still feel like our prayers are inadequate or that we aren’t totally “spiritual” yet. Perhaps we feel distracted or dull. But let us not lose heart. Our Father invites us into His presence as simply as a child. Our children do not come to us with great fanfare or by presenting their accomplishments, their feelings, or the purity of their motives or desires, do they? They simply come. Offering nothing but themselves. They do not even think of offering anything in order to be received. They boldly and simply put out their hand. So today, let us come to our Heavenly Father as simply as that. Let us not give up in despair just because we do not feel that we are praying well. He knows our needs and our prayers. Let us just put our hand out.

Pray:

• Against the sense of despair and hopelessness caused by a need to prove our worth or faith.

• For a renewed trust and hope in our Father’s love and providence.

• For a childlike faith to be rekindled in us.
