DAY 6 OF 7

DAY 6: The Daily Grace of God

Contributor: Diane Braden, grandmother

Many years ago, when I was a young mom, my oldest son, who was ten at the time, was carried in from playing outside. He couldn’t walk or even sit. Alarmed, I called our pediatrician. After hearing the symptoms, he told me to go immediately to the ER, and he would phone ahead that we were en route. To say I was overwhelmed was an understatement.

I heard distinctly from the Holy Spirit to place all of my anxiety in God’s hands. I had recently given birth to my youngest son, so my husband took care of our baby while I carried our 10-year-old to the hospital. As soon as we arrived, they took us back and began running tests. The result was an emergency surgery, which went well. The surgeon said if we had arrived later than we did, the outcome would have been entirely different. What incredible grace! Our son is now a married adult with four beautiful children, and I love being Grandma.

There is a dynamic, profound, and amazing grace afforded to us daily by our Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus. We are continuously walking, moving, and breathing in the beautiful, never-ending goodness of God. We can do nothing apart from Him. Grace is a benefit of being in covenant with God. It gives us victory, peace, and joy on a level our finite minds cannot comprehend. Grace is an unmerited favor that envelopes us in an inexhaustible supply.

How far is the East from the West? Exactly. There is no end in sight to the grace of God. Picture a ring with no beginning or end. As you go about your days, let these images of grace settle in your spirit so that no matter what your circumstances, you remember this God of grace, who is always with you.
