Regroup - for People Who Help OthersSample
Devotional:
Jesus Heals
Jesus had a holistic approach to his ministry. He taught with authority, cast out demons, and he healed people’s bodies. He valued every part of the people he encountered - their mind, body, and spirit.
Nothing has changed. He still cares about the minds, bodies and spirits of the people who follow him.
Ministry leaders and people helpers often forget this for themselves. It is likely that if you have been helping people for any length of time, you have ignored your own mental, spiritual, or physical health in the service of others. Like the people Jesus cares for in this passage, you can find healing and strength in him.
Today’s Challenge:
Let Jesus lead you in a moment of self-reflection about your health. What part of you needs to feel his love for you? Most leaders take care of others, but fail to take care of themselves. What criticisms have you heard from your inner critic? What parts of your life do you feel the shame? Where in your life are to “fill your tank” from applause or success?
Jesus cared for the holistic needs of the people in his circle -- their minds, their bodies, and their spirits. Think about his kindness. Journal answering this question -- would he say to comfort and encourage you?
