Key Events: Key Historical Events Of The BibleSample
Exile
There is a new king in command at this point, but Daniel is still in a position of responsibility. As Jeremiah has instructed, Daniel is serving God to the best of his ability in a place of captivity. Like his friends in chapter 3, Daniel remains faithful to God even when his life is threatened.
This is a story we love to tell children, but as adults can’t help but feel challenged in as well. How would you have been tempted to compromise in this situation? Couldn’t Daniel have prayed behind closed doors? Do we hide our faith when it could be embarrassing? Do we speak for God when those around us insult him?
