Bury Your Unbelief

DAY 3 OF 7

Area of Unbelief #2: Disappointment

Disappointment can be a hard thing for us. In the Scripture passage for today, David has a son with Bathsheba and the child dies although David is fasting and praying. That must have been very disappointing!

Everyone has had disappointments in prayer or in circumstances. I have been disappointed in God sometimes. I thought He should do something particular or do something faster.

David fasted, prayed, and believed that maybe God would heal the child. But, he did not get what he wanted. There are some things I have wanted, but I did not get them. When something does not happen the way you want it to, do you give up on God and wave Him goodbye? No way. What did David do? He said, “I cannot bring him back to life, but someday I can go to him.” Do you look for the positive part of what God can do? I find that sometimes we carry disappointment because we do not like the way God did something.

When people carry disappointment, they can begin to neglect things. They might quit going to church or quit reading their Bible because they are mad or grieved at God. That is dangerous. We have to bury our disappointments and trust God’s Word.

Ask yourself: Do I have any disappointments in God over past or current circumstances? Have these disappointments become a burden or area of unbelief?

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Bury Your Unbelief

Has anyone spoken words against you that have broken your spirit? Have those words taken root and led to negative patterns like persistent disappointment, a critical mindset, illness, or even disaster or despair? This reading plan focuses on five areas of our lives where negative thoughts turn into areas of unbelief that can hold us back from experiencing peace, hope, and healing.
