You Are LovedSample
You Can Know For Sure
God’s love changes everything, including the way you pray. When you realize how much He loves you, you don’t beg, “Oh God, please heal me! Meet my needs! Protect me!” When you really know that His motivation toward you is love, you can say, “Father, of course You’ll heal me—You love me! Of course You’ll protect me—You love me!” This is a supernatural, unconditional, agape love that changes your life.
But you must believe it. Galatians 5:6 says that “faith works by love.” I like to say: Faith works by knowing how much you’re loved. If you don’t know, you might still be begging. When you know how much God loves you, you can approach Him with faith, knowing for sure that you have your answer from a loving heavenly Father.
Too many Christians aren’t sure about God. They don’t know if they can count on Him. They know about Him, but they don’t know Him.
Here’s an example. Let’s say you need $500, so I give you my dad’s phone number and say, “Call my dad. He’ll give you the money.” You might be desperate enough to make the call and say, “Karen told me to call you and ask.” But you still wouldn’t know for sure what my dad would say. Why? Because you don’t know him.
But if I—his only daughter, the apple of his eye—called and asked him for $500, I know what he would say. Why? Because I know him. I’ve known him all my life. I know he loves me and would do anything to help me. I have daughter status with him.
Many people approach God like they might approach my father—with caution. They pray, but they aren’t sure about the reception they’ll get. They don’t know for sure that He loves them and would do anything for them.
If that’s you, I pray you can increase your capacity to be loved by God. I pray that you can get to a place of knowing for sure. First John 4:16 says, “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
How do you get to a place of believing in His love? By meditating on God’s truths until they seem more real than your feelings, experience, or circumstances.
