'Bout That Life

DAY 2 OF 10

SAME CALLING, DIFFERENT COMPREHENSION

The calling on our lives as followers of God has not changed. Though thousands of years stand between us and the characters of the Bible, the calling remains the same: we are to give all of ourselves to Him; not just an hour or two on Sunday mornings, not just when it's convenient.

In Hebrews 11 as we're about to read, we see that those people being commended for their faith were looking forward to the promise God had for them - the promise not of this life, but of the life to come. How often do we narrow our focus to the 100 years or less that we'll be here on earth? In the reality of eternity, the Bible calls our life on earth but a breath, a whisper. It's much easier to prioritize & put Christ & His Kingdom first when you realize how fleeting our life is & how long eternity is!

In fact, the way that you live today is a great indicator of where you plan on being tomorrow. Set your sites on the eternal over the temporary.

When our comprehension is right, our actions begin to follow. Suddenly a sports game on Sunday begins to have less importance than being at church on Sunday, supporting God's House & helping to spread His Gospel. Our focus shifts and we begin to fix our eyes on what God cares about rather than our own desires. And when this begins to happen, we start to see God do more than we could ask, dream, or imagine.

Practical Steps: With everything you do today, consider the eternal effect of your actions.

About this Plan

'Bout That Life

A famous mixed martial arts fighter, Ronda Rousey, popularized this phrase, 'Bout That Life, in 2015 at the height of her career. She explained that many people want the glory of success, but are unwilling to do what it takes to get there. This Bible Plan looks at the lives of a few Biblical characters who were definitely 'Bout That Life: willing to do whatever it took to follow God. God's calling has remained the same through centuries: the question is, what will our response be?
