Advent Readings and PrayersSample
Christmas Eve
The Christmas Eve reading reminds us that the birth of Christ is not only at the center of Christmas, but that His birth, life, death, and resurrection are at the center of the Bible, the center of God’s plan of redemption, and the center of all human history. Christ’s incarnation, from the cradle to the cross and on to the empty tomb, is the great pivot point for all of history and all of God’s plan for His creation.
Prayer
Almighty God, who has given us Your only begotten Son to take our nature upon Him, and as at this time to be born of a pure virgin, grant that we being regenerate, and made Your children by adoption and grace, may daily be renewed by Your Holy Spirit, through the same our Lord Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the same Spirit ever, one God, world without end. Amen.

About this Plan
The word advent simply means “coming.” The Advent season refers to a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the coming of Christ at Christmas. Traditionally, the church has set aside the four Sundays before Christmas as the season of Advent. This plan contains an order of prayers and readings for the four Sundays in Advent and for Christmas Eve.
