The Dark Side
Anyone who watches Star Wars movies knows of the epic battle found in the action filled science fiction drama. Mention the “Dark Side” or “The Force” and images of Darth Vader, Supreme Leader Snoke, Count Dooku, and all the other evil masterminds of Darkness come to mind. We find during the hours of Jesus’ crucifixion that darkness covered the land. This unusual event in nature reminds us of the time when the Egyptians experienced pitch darkness for three days and then came the Passover deliverance. A frightening experience – everything coming to a standstill, not knowing what is going to happen – and fear. Fast forward to Calvary. Jesus, The Light of the World, was not to be seen. Hanging on the Cross, He was our Passover Lamb taking the sins of the world upon Himself in order that we may have fellowship with the Father, who dwells in Light. They heard His cry; they felt His agony; and feared for the future. We should not fear darkness: God’s chosen people had light when the Egyptians did not, and Jesus is our Light in the midst of darkness. Let us walk in His Light.
Prayer: I accept by faith that You, Lord will give me the light I need to walk in darkness. I pray not to stumble, fall, or become lost in this world but be a light for You. May Your Light guide me and keep me in Your Will. Amen.
