The Greatest Of TheseSample
LOVE THE WORLD AROUND YOU
From the checkout operator at the supermarket to our neighbour over the fence, to the parents of our kids’ friends at school or sports, to the courier delivery man – there are many opportunities for us to show the love of Jesus to the world around us.
Often, we are too busy, distracted, or stressed to notice the moments that are before us every single day. The challenge is this – if we wait for the perfect opportunity it may never come. If we are to show love to the world around us, we need to learn to love on the way. That was Jesus’ lifestyle and it should be ours.
Throughout the gospels, Jesus constantly shows us how to love people who we meet & interact with in our day to day lives. The woman that Jesus meets beside a well in John chapter 4 is a great example! A conversation, a display of compassion, and her life was forever changed!
What does this look like for us? How can we show value and love to those we encounter in our daily life?
Firstly, we must open our eyes. Humanity is all around us, people looking for love & acceptance, people on a journey. We can’t let our busyness or possessions stop us from loving people. There is someone who lives near you, do you know them? Do you know the name of the barista at your local café? Pray that your eyes would be opened to see the person, and see the opportunity.
Secondly, embrace the moments. Give yourself time and space to stop and really listen. At cafes, supermarkets, school pick up – take out the headphones, put down the phone, and be ready to have a conversation.
Finally, pray for the ripple effect. Hold faith and believe for the ‘what if’? What if because you showed love to that person in your workplace, their whole family found the hope of Jesus? Imagine what could happen in that family because of your willingness to love on the way.
There is a world out there that needs to experience the love of God and the primary way that He displays His love is through us. As you read the key scriptures today, believe for opportunities to share that love today!
