Biblical Success - Finishing Well Part 3 - Running In The Light

DAY 3 OF 5

#3 - Howsit Work?

Ephesians 6:12 - “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

II Corinthians 10:3-5 - “For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.”

II Corinthians 11:14 - “And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”

Where do our thoughts come from? Have you ever wondered how it is that we can be having the best and purest thought one moment and the very next be tripped in an angry, ugly, self-righteous or jealous thought? And then if we allow the darkness in how it tends to take over our thoughts and start us down a dark path? Have you ever had an evil thought just appear in your mind while you are seated in Church or a prayer meeting? Of course you have, we all experience such things. It’s not really hard to guess where they come from.

God never sends thoughts that are unholy or unhealthy. Think about it; every sin begins with a single thought! But so does any righteous act! Any thought that pops into our mind that is contrary to God’s Word or God’s way comes from the world, our flesh, or the devil.

Running in the Light is a battle in controlling our responses to our thoughts; in allowing the light of the Light of the world to judge our thoughts and guide our responses. As we said earlier our lives are impacted by thoughts every waking moment through what we see and hear. This is tough stuff! That’s why God sent us a Helper to live within us where the very battle is fought. You know Him and He knows you. His Name is Holy Spirit.

Ask Him to show you if the following is darkness or light; “The Holy Spirit is not an “it,” He is a person.” What do you think? Darkness? Light? Why do you think so?

Day 2Day 4

About this Plan

Biblical Success - Finishing Well Part 3 - Running In The Light

In this plan we will look at the possibility that deception can creep into our lives as darkness disguised as light; based on John 6:23, Luke 11:34-36 and other scriptures contrasting darkness and light. We will close by advocating that intimacy with God in Christ through daily quiet time in His Word, prayer, and contemplation is our best defense against deception; I John 1:7.
