Walk Through The Bible 365 - JanuarySample
Are You Classified?
Jesus was speaking to the crowds and his disciples when he was exhorting them concerning the Pharisees and teachers of the Law. Many of us could probably name the greatest boxer of all time or famous basketball players or even the number one ranked tennis player this season. Jesus would not allow his listeners to call one another by the title "'Rabbi,' 'father,' or 'instructor.'" They were exalted in society, yet Jesus explained that the greatest among us will be a servant. No fame, glory, interviews, or endorsements for our benefit. Service is what Jesus was telling the crowd that will classify you as the greatest.
Prayer: Gracious Lord and Master, what an honor to be a servant. Please help me to be a servant to you and those around me. Help me to see a need and to serve that need with a humble heart and mind. May you receive the glory, honor and praise for service in your Name, Amen.
