Be Respectful
1 Peter 2:17
Show respect for all people. Love the brothers and sisters of God’s family. Respect God. Honor the king.
It had been the desire of David to build a temple of worship for God. However, God had told David that the one who would build the temple was his son. After David passed away, Solomon wanted to fulfil it.
One day, Solomon told this plan to King Hiram, David’s friend, and requested for some cedar and cypress logs from him. Hiram gladly fulfilled Solomon’s request. In return, Solomon provided good and plenty of food for King Hiram’s household year by year. The two kings had a mutual agreement based on respect. King Hiram was willing to help Solomon because he respected Solomon as much as he had respected King David, Solomon’s father.
Respect comes from seeing others the way God sees them. Respect is something that you have earned and deserve. When you show respect, you receive respect. Being respectful builds trust and a good relationship. We should show respect to whom it is due as through this you can show God’s love.
Prayer
Dear God, help me to be respectful to others so that they can see Your love in me. Amen.
