How to Navigate a StormSample
Day 5 Devotional
Fifth Principle: FOCUS ON WHAT IS IMPORTANT
We read about Jesus in Luke 4:42-43 “… people were looking for him and When they got to where he was, they were trying to stop him from going away. But he said to them: "I must also announce to the other peoples the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this I was sent."
There are so many distractions in life and things that want and demand our attention! During difficult times there are even more distractors that happen and disorient our lives. Jesus was clear about His priorities and He was focused on what was important to fulfill His purpose. This is a great lesson for us, we need to have our priorities in order and serve them well.
Our relationship with God, the family (wife, children, parents), health, work, etc., are areas of our life that if we take good care of them, we will have emotional peace. This peace in our life allows us to help minister to others who are having problems. Let us remember that "the important" is not the same as "the urgent". In fact, during the storms of life, the urgent often distracts us from the important. Focus on the relationships that give you peace and you will see how this will bring order to your life and to the others who you have a friendship with.
Learn this principle: If one area of your life is in crisis, do not make the mistake of going into two or more crisis areas of your life because you are neglecting the important to attend to the urgent. Take care of what is important while solving the crisis area.
