“Dinner With A Sinner”
Sometimes we have this idea that Jesus only wants to hang out with people who have their lives together and are genuinely good followers of God. In this story we see just the opposite, giving us hope that anyone can have a relationship with Jesus.
Jesus collides with a man who has a bad reputation for cheating everyone out of their money. Unexpectedly, Jesus decides to have dinner with him and all of his tax-collecting friends. Maybe the people watching thought that Jesus was here on Earth for the “good” people or the people who did the “right” things in life. This collision with sinners tells us that Jesus has a different view of people than we have, and He wants to be with sinners or those of us who don’t have it all together.
Jesus wants to have a relationship with you no matter what you have done. He came for people like us, to seek us out and save us. That should give you great joy!
Pray
- If you do not have a relationship with Jesus, pray that God will help you understand what that means.
- Pray for your friends or family who do not have a relationship with Jesus so that they too will understand who Jesus is.
