Jesus Only: Part TwoSample
Week 8 - Enjoying Your Marriage
This Week’s Devotional Written by Deb Williams
This Week's Scripture Passage is Colossians 3:18-19
Day 1 - Sunday - Rest Day
Enjoy Your Sabbath Rest
“Sabbath is that uncluttered time and space in which we can distance ourselves from our own activities enough to see what God is doing.” - Eugene Peterson
God gave us the Sabbath as a gift – to be with Him, to renew and refresh our souls and bodies, to slow down so we can allow our lives to be brought into realignment and see them from God’s perspective. This is vital to living in our world.
“If you watch your step on the Sabbath
and don’t use my holy day for personal advantage,
If you treat the Sabbath as a day of joy,
God’s holy day as a celebration,
If you honor it by refusing ‘business as usual,’
making money, running here and there—
Then you’ll be free to enjoy God!
Oh, I’ll make you ride high and soar above it all.
I’ll make you feast on the inheritance of your ancestor Jacob.”
Yes! God says so!” - Isaiah 58:13-14 (MSG)
A note about this week’s subject matter. As you can see from the title, it’s about the marriage relationship. If you are single – never married, widowed, or divorced, please don’t skip this week. Might I invite you to use the opportunity to pray for those who are married in your circle of friends? Pray for those you love who are married, not yet married or struggling in their relationships with their spouse. Marrieds desperately need your prayer, as we all do.
If you are married, take time during this week and ask God to show you areas of your life where He desires to see you change in your relationship with your spouse – maybe in your attitude, your expectations (spoken and unspoken), maybe in the area of forgiveness or grace expressed. Wherever He is speaking to you.

About this Plan
With many options to turn to for peace, security, and fulfillment, is Jesus enough? Many have developed a "Jesus And" approach to life based on comfort, success, income, or image. If we're honest, is "Jesus Only" our source for a fulfilling and purposeful life? Part Two of this study looks at Colossians 3:1-21 to continue to help you answer these questions. This plan runs Sunday through Saturday for four weeks.
