What Should Be My Financial Priority?

DAY 5 OF 5

Pursue Peace

Anxiety is the opposite of contentment. When we believe that God is God, that He is good, and that He takes good care of us and our needs, we are content and at peace. We see God as our provider. The Bible calls Him Jehovah Jireh, which means “The Lord will provide.” But if we take God off His throne in our lives, we become anxious. We see ourselves as our own providers. Anxiety is a perfect indicator that something is out of balance in our lives.

The Bible tells us to be anxious for nothing. It instructs us to pray and commit all our requests to God. Then we will have God’s peace. God’s peace surpasses our earthly understanding. We do not need to know what will happen or how things will work out to have God’s peace. We must trust Him to be the Provider for all of our desires and needs. This means that we submit what we think we need to His Sovereignty. The Bible tells us that God is our Father who will provide all our needs according to His glorious riches.

God is able to provide everything we need. He is able to satisfy our desires with good things. However, He asks us to trust Him and to submit our desires to Him. We cannot allow our desires to possess us. We must always seek God first in our hearts and make sure that nothing we desire controls us or takes away our peace. When we do not have peace, we must leave the object of our desire in God’s hands. We have to let it go. If it the Lord’s will for us to have it, we will have it in His time.

Let us seek God first in everything we do, including our finances, acknowledging His sovereign rule over all. We should seek godly counsel to ensure our financial decisions align with biblical principles, and strive to avoid debt while being content with what the Lord provides. Our ultimate peace comes from trusting in God's provision and timing. When we honor God with our resources and live according to His Word, we rest in the assurance of His blessings, which may not always be material but will always lead to spiritual prosperity.
