The Continuum: Rooted, Built Up & StrengthenedSample
DAY 2 – CONTINUE TO LIVE IN CHRIST
“In Christ” is a recurring theme with Paul. The phrase “in Christ”. “in him”, “In the Lord” occurs 164 times in Paul’s letters. In Christ is a unique phrase. We know that Christ comes and dwells in our hearts. He lives “in me”. However, I also live “in Him”. To be in Christ is to be a part of His body. In John chapter 15 we are told that He is the vine and we are the branches. We are reminded to remain in Him. We have a close relationship with him and with one another.
To “live in Him” means to live like Him. We are to have the mind of Christ, we do what He tells us to do, we think the way He thinks. Our aim is to become more and more like to Him. We need His presence ever increasing in our life. This transforms us inside out.
When we are in Christ, we become new creations (2 Cor 5:17). The old self has been crucified on the Cross. We are now alive in Christ as new creatures with a new DNA that begins to desire the things that please God.
So we live to please the Spirit. We live and focus on what God has called me to be. You cannot produce a positive result by focusing on the negative. Focus on the being kind, patient, loving, forgiving, humble, caring, giving and you automatically will stop being unkind, short-tempered, hateful, unforgiving, proud, self-centered and selfish.
When we are “In Christ,” we are seated in heavenly places with Him (Eph. 2:6).
What are some of the things we have by virtue of being “In Christ”?
You have salvation (Eph. 1:7).
You are loved with an everlasting love (Rom 8:38-39).
You have forgiveness of sins (Eph. 1:7).
You become righteous and have been justified (2 Cor 5:21).
You are a new creation (2 Cor 5:17).
You are a child of God (Gal 3:26).
You have every spiritual blessing (Eph 1:3).
REFLECT AND ASK YOURSELF
Do I have the confidence that I am In Christ?
Write down the possibilities for your life now that you know this truth.
Thank God for all the things listed above that you can enjoy as a result of being “In Christ.”
What positives can you focus on?
