To God Be the Glory

2 Corinthians 12:9

When you are weak, then my power is made perfect in you.

After Ehud died, the people of Israel disobeyed God again.  So, God let Jabin, a king of Canaan, defeat Israel. Sisera was the commander of Jabin’s army and he was very cruel to the people of Israel for 20 years. The Israelites cried to the Lord for help. God sent Deborah, a woman judge, to send a message to a man named Barak that God will help him defeat Sisera.

Barak was scared and he refused to fight unless Deborah went with him. She went along and they defeated Sisera’s army. Initially, Sisera escaped the battle, but God used a woman named Jael to kill the wicked commander, Sisera. On that day God defeated Jabin king of Canaan in the sight of Israel.

It might seem unusual, but in this battle, God used the role of 2 women to fight the enemy. Although people might think that women are not strong enough to fight a battle, God can still use them to achieve victory.

What we can learn here is that even when we are weak or considered incapable of doing a certain thing, God can enable us and use us for the glory of His name. This is possible if you obey Him and if you are willing to let Him use your life to glorify His name.

Prayer

Dear God, despite all of my weaknesses, Your grace is sufficient for me. Use my life to show Your glory. Amen.
