Let Me Live in Peace

DAY 1 OF 5

My mom says that when I was little, I was like an angel (even though today it's hard to believe). It was in my adolescence that I entered into a long period of rebellion, and that led me to addictions; but I thank God for that stage of my life, because it was the one that brought me to the feet of Christ.

In that period, when I was causing trouble, my mom would often say to me: "Chris, please let me live in peace!"

We live in a world where there are so many situations, people and voices that want to steal our peace. But as children of God, I believe that we must have an attitude that says "let me live in peace" to situations that try to anguish our heart, extinguish our faith and steal our trust.

If the situations around you steal your peace, it is not because they have greater authority in your life, but because you have given permission for that to happen. Our inner peace is our responsibility.

With these five points, Jesus prepared the hearts of his disciples for the time when he would no longer be with them physically, and I believe they apply to us as well:

1. We have the promise of the Holy Spirit: Jesus had to leave so that the Spirit could come.

2. We have the revelation that we live in Him: Each of us must have a constant revelation that our position is in Christ and, more than just living in this world, we live in Him.

3. We have a pattern to live by: Jesus calls us to live according to His Word, and it is the Holy Spirit who reveals the Truth to us and constantly reminds us of it.

4. We are called to love God and to love people: This is the sum of the whole law.

5. Jesus will give us peace: He never promised a life free of challenges, problems or temptations, but time and time again He reminds us in the Scriptures that "even in the midst of tribulation and adversity" we can find peace within ourselves.
