[Road To Renewal] Restore

DAY 3 OF 3

Restoration

Whatever trial we might be going through, even if it is very difficult, even in the midst of loss, we can meet God there, like Job did when he was going through the most difficult time in his life. He had lost everything he had: his flocks, his servants, his house, his children, and his health. When we read the book of Job we might come across a lot of questions as to why God would allow the enemy to do all that he did in Job’s life. God was working on perfecting His purpose and His will in Job. When God allows the devil to touch us, it is because God has a great purpose in mind for our lives. The moment Job meets with God, after talking with some of the few friends he had left, is the moment he repents of his self-righteousness—thinking that he knew God’s ways when he really did not. When he repents, the Lord restores him. God restores his household, his relationships, his economy, his family, and his legacy.

Nebuchadnezzar is another story of restoration in the Bible. He was the greatest king of the greatest empire of the world at the time. At his palace were “the hanging gardens,” one of the seven wonders of the ancient world. He was proud of what he had accomplished. One day, admiring all the things he had done, he starts to think more of himself than he should have, trying to steal God’s glory. That is when God tells him that now is the time for his dream to come true. He had dreamed before that he was going to lose everything. So it comes to pass that King Nebuchadnezzar loses his mind for seven years. He loses his throne and becomes like an animal, homeless, impoverished, and deranged, and he stays that way until he raises his eyes towards heaven, repents, and recognizes the sovereignty of the Lord. God then restores him and gives him even more than what he first had.

As we lift our eyes to the heavens to acknowledge God, He begins to restore us, even when we think we have lost everything. He can restore our health, our minds, our relationships, our purity, our family, our innocence, our destiny, and our purpose. We might crash on the road of our lives; we might go too far, too quickly, or too soon. Still, God is able to give us back the years the locusts have eaten and restore whatever we need to be restored (Joel 2:25).

What have you lost? Have you suffered financial loss or emotional loss? Have you lost your health? Whatever the marauding armies have eaten out of your life, whether it has been lost for months, years, weeks or days, do not say you will never get it back. God is a God of restoration! He can take the years remaining in your life and make them greater than the years you think you have lost. We need to lift our eyes to Him, and as David did, cry out to the Lord: “Restore, oh Lord, what I have lost” (see Psalm 51:12).

Seek God, repent, turn to Him. Pray to God for renewal and restoration in your life, as King David, King Nebuchadnezzar, and Job did. Pray for a season of supernatural restoration from God in your life.
