The Land of the Living

Do you know what intrigues me about Narnia or Hogwarts? It’s the idea that there’s this fantastical world right under our noses. A world full of mystery and wonder that we could see if we just knew how to access it. These stories captivate our imagination because they speak to a deep truth in our hearts. We are not part of this world. There is another world that is full of mystery and wonder just beyond what our physical eyes can see. 

So how do we access it? The verse today tells us plainly, “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.” When we choose to live for God we gain access to a different world - a world that is full of the goodness of the Lord. 

Now the truth is that we aren’t transported out of this world into another one. Rather, we are given a unique perspective on the life we continue to live each day. Have you ever wondered why other people seem to have the joy of the Lord in their life regardless of their circumstances? According to this verse, it’s because they have decided to live in the land of the living. 

Goal:

As you’ve made a commitment to live for God, ask the Lord to let you see His goodness in your life. Pray that you would begin to see this life the way that God sees it. Declare each day before you go to school or work, “I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living!”
