The Business of Loving Thy Neighbor

DAY 3 OF 4

Presidents and CEOs

Do you ever feel the weight of leadership on your shoulders? It can be a literal burden at times—with pressures mounting and difficult decisions constantly forcing their way into your office. But you don’t have to deal with the responsibility of leading alone.

Inviting God into your day-to-day is one of the wisest things you can do. And as these verses tell us, wisdom is what defines great leaders. Consider talking to God as you go from meeting to meeting. Pray on your drive in, when you first walk into your office, and during the small breaks that pop up during the day.

And if you’re not sure what to say, here’s a place to start...

Lord, thank you for the great honor it is to lead this company. May I not take for granted the favor you have shown me. I need your wisdom today in every part of my life – my work, my marriage, and my family. Help me to listen more and talk less. Jesus, grant me the same humble spirit you showed in your leadership – though you were God, you humbled yourself and became a servant to all. Show me ways that I can serve my employees today and improve their lives. Help me to quickly admit when I’m wrong. Remind me that I don’t have all the answers, nor do I need to. Give me a stout heart for the tough decisions I need to make. O God, would you develop in me your character, so that I may bring you honor? Please use me in this role to advance your kingdom. I yield my life to you today. Amen.
