Our Role In God’s Kingdom
God met the Israelites at the tent of meeting. The Holy God chose to dwell among the sinful man in a temporary shelter even as the Israelites moved on their journey towards the promised land.
Reading this passage reminds me how the Holy God has chosen to live in me, a sinner, even as I journey towards my promised land of eternity in Heaven. As the presence of God led the Israelites through the wilderness, so the Holy Spirit guides us in this journey of life.
Even as we journey in this life, God has specific roles for us in His kingdom. What are some of the tasks God has ordained for us in this earthly life? As a child, God wants us to be curious about ourselves and those around us and to seek the Creator through His creation. If you are a parent, your role is to influence your child to see God through you. You are to pass on Godly values.
Just as much as we teach our children Christian ethical principles, we also need to keep them relevant to the world. Instead of being taught to look down on those from other religions and beliefs as “lost”, we need to teach them to be inclusive while taking a stand for Christ. How can they learn this if we don't follow it as parents? How many friends do we have from the non-Christian community? Do they come to our home? Can we have an enjoyable evening respecting each other's beliefs without judging? Do our children see us defending our beliefs in love rather than in arrogance and judgement?
Using the Bible to judge others who are not of our faith is not showing them love. Can we wait on God to give us the wisdom to defend our faith? The Temple, the rituals and offerings were created by God to showcase how the Holy God met sinful man. With the sacrifice of Jesus and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit within us, our bodies become tents for God to meet us. God wants us to share the hope that we have experienced to those around us. The Lord instructed the Israelites through Moses, who followed His commands so that the nations around them could see the mighty God. In the same manner, can we be channels where people can see the Holy God who saved a sinner like me?
Thought for the day:
List down those areas where you need God to teach you to be more inclusive and ask God to help you seek Him for those answers.
Lord help us to reflect you in all we do so that we are channels of your love to those who don't know you.
