DAY 3 OF 6

LEARN NOT TO BE SELFISH

In our daily life we meet a lot of people; some treat us well, but some do not. David experienced this; there were times when Saul tried to kill David. It feels so normal for David to hate Saul, but rather than hating Him, David did the opposite. He loved Saul and his family. In 2 Samuel 2:9 we find out David’s love and care for Saul’s family.

We can learn from David how to be kind and good to others. However, there was one time when David gave in to his selfish desires and sacrificed Uriah, the Hittite, for his own benefit. David went his own way and was controlled by his fleshly desires, separating himself from God. The Lord sent a prophet to David saying God’s Word, because David had committed sin before God, giving in to his fleshly desires.

David realised that what he did was evil before God. He repented and sought God’s forgiveness for his sins. When we are selfish and do things for our own benefit, do we also come to a realisation and repent, like David?

Love everyone, including your enemy, because God first loved us.
