Beauty for battle
God is never deterred by our past. Esther’s parents had died, and she was left to be raised by her uncle, Mordecai. Esther’s Hebrew birth name was Hadassah, which means star. This young, beautiful woman could not have known the future God had destined for her. He did, however, require her obedience for a time such as the one in which she was living.
Esther did not have the mindset of an orphan—one who feels abandoned, alone and rejected. Instead, she was a bold, courageous and purpose-filled woman. Her submission to the instructions of her uncle and the custodian of the king’s harem made Esther eligible for an audience with the king. As you read the life story of Esther, her attributes of wisdom, humility and obedience become the reservoir from which her future would be drawn.
Submitting to the preparation for her heavenly assignment placed her precisely in the position she needed to be. What should you be saying yes to at such a time as this—the time in which God has positioned you?
Esther won a beauty pageant, not a Nobel prize, and so we can quickly decide that all that she was, was her looks. Esther was wise and patient. She requested an audience with him and it was through her gracious approach to the impending doom that she thwarted the plan of the enemy and was deemed worthy to save her nation.
The challenge is twofold: Don’t underestimate what you are capable of achieving; and be prayerful and wise when heading into battle because God will always give you the right strategy.
Prayer
Show me my purpose, Lord. I want to say “yes” to all You have planned for me. Amen.
God has a plan and purpose for your life. All you need to do is ask Him and be willing to listen.
