Keep on Praying!

DAY 1 OF 5

Set aside 15 minutes

When Billy Sunday converted and joined a church, a Christian man put his arm on the shoulder of the young Billy and said, "Billy, there are three simple rules that I can give you, and if you do them, you will never write "The Christian who retreats" behind your name."

"Set aside 15 minutes every day to hear God speak to you, 15 minutes every day to talk to God, and 15 minutes every day to talk to others about God."

This newly converted young man was very impressed and decided to make these three rules to be the rules of his life. From then on throughout his life, Billy made it a rule to set aside the beginning of his days to be alone with God and His word. Before he read a letter, saw a newspaper or even read a piece of a telegram, he would read the Bible first, so that his first impression of that day would be what he got directly from God.

Devotion:

Prayer is a two-way communication relationship with God. Most of us just pray to convey our hearts and desires, without giving God the opportunity to speak to us. Do we always give God the opportunity to speak to us in our prayers? Give time to listen to God's voice when we pray, and God will reveal many things to our lives.

The difficulty with almost everyone who prays is that he says "amen" and runs away before God has a chance to answer. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him our ideas. (Frank Laubach)

About this Plan

Keep on Praying!

Perseverance is one of the keys to prayer. When we pray, there are times when God wants to see our perseverance in prayer. Perseverance requires faith and hope that God is able and will answer our prayers. May this devotional help us persevere in waiting for the answers of our prayers. Let us persevere and wait for God's power to work in our lives.
